GeoCheckpoint Description

The Torrance Gypsum Mine is a small opening in the east bank of the Grand River near Paris ON. It was first excavated in 1846 but soon abandoned. In 1895, further excavation took place and the shaft was driven 45' into the bank.

The mine can be accessed from the river below (easier) or from the trail above (harder). There are 2 identical checkpoints here - one you can see from above and one from below. Parking: N43°10.480' W080°21.075'
